Role Overview

Internal Affairs & DEI is the so-called culture-keeper of Untitled: you shape the social atmosphere, build community, and help ensure our work is respectful, accessible, and equitable. You’ll support fair, inclusive processes across recruiting, onboarding, and production: working to reduce bias, expand opportunity, and make sure people can do their best work in a healthy environment, while also setting norms for communication, maintaining feedback/reporting pathways, and stepping in to mediate conflicts or address issues early and responsibly.

Core Responsibilities

  • Schedule weekly board meetings, secure a meeting room, and keep board operations organized.

  • Take board meeting minutes and track action items so decisions turn into follow-through.

  • Foster community through social programming (at least 2 events/semester: one larger, one smaller; format is up to you).

  • Maintain an environment where diversity is supported and inclusion is actively practiced across Untitled’s work.

  • Support fair hiring/recruitment by helping reduce bias in interviews and selection processes.

  • Serve as a neutral, trusted resource for board members, cast/crew, and applicants when concerns arise.

  • Manage conflict resolution when interpersonal issues begin affecting a production; mediate respectfully and proactively.

  • Maintain and regularly check an anonymous Complaint/Concern Form; respond appropriately and escalate when necessary.

  • Facilitate post-mortems and feedback collection after show wraps; help translate feedback into improvements.

  • Oversee conduct/process resources (e.g., ensuring people know how to access support, and coordinating relevant trainings like Path to Care when applicable).

  • Participate in project selection conversations to help ensure a diverse range of voices and stories across the season.

  • Occasionally contribute to funding efforts at External Affairs direction (directly applying for grants, coordinating who applies, and/or supporting fundraising pipelines).

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, discretion, and emotional maturity.

  • Familiarity with DEI practices and building equitable processes.

  • Reliable communication and consistent board meeting attendance.

  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with fairness and confidentiality.

Preferred (Most applicants won’t have any/all of these… Don’t worry! We’re more than willing to train the right person.)

  • Experience with facilitation, mediation, community organizing, or HR-style work.

  • Grant-writing, donor outreach, or fundraising experience.
