Role Overview

External Affairs & Independent Projects manages Untitled’s relationships beyond the company and drives programming that isn’t one of the two mainstage productions. You’ll be the point person for partners like ASUC and TDPS, maintain our institutional standing and logistics (deadlines, compliance, tabling, outreach), and help grow Untitled’s presence on campus through partnerships, sponsorships, and funding opportunities. You’ll also produce and oversee our ongoing independent projects—currently the Demystification of Theater Arts DeCal and the Act One Pitch Contest—building the timelines, teams, and systems that keep them running smoothly year to year, and supporting any new independent initiatives the company chooses to launch.

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as Untitled’s primary external point of contact (campus departments, student orgs, venues, sponsors, donors, and collaborators).

  • Maintain and grow relationships with TDPS/related entities and coordinate communications that involve external partners (often in collaboration with Marketing).

  • Keep Untitled in good standing as an RSO: monitor ASUC requirements, deadlines, trainings, and needed documentation.

  • Organize and oversee tabling plans at the beginning of each semester (general awareness, auditions, and show promotions) and coordinate staffing.

  • Lead fundraising and sponsorship pipelines (aim for at least one meaningful external funding source per season where feasible).

  • Apply for and secure ASUC funding for each production (and track timelines so nothing is missed).

  • Draft thank-you emails and stewardship communications after productions and key events.

  • Represent Untitled at external events when useful (or coordinate delegation if you can’t attend).

  • Produce and oversee (delegated) independent projects (currently: DeCal + Act One Pitch Contest): timelines, staffing, communications, and execution.

  • If new independent projects are pitched, support and oversee the project lead (scope, resources, accountability, and integration with board priorities).

  • Coordinate workshops/masterclasses for mainstage productions (faculty, artists, partners).

  • Maintain key institutional docs (e.g., constitution updates as needed).

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong writing/communication skills (professional emails, clear coordination).

  • Comfort representing the organization externally and following through reliably.

  • Organized approach to deadlines and institutional requirements.

Preferred (Most applicants won’t have any/all of these… Don’t worry! We’re more than willing to train the right person.)

  • Experience producing events, managing programs, or leading student org initiatives.

  • Fundraising, sponsorship outreach, or grant-writing experience.

  • Familiarity with ASUC/RSO processes or willingness to learn them fast.
